NEW SERIES BY Mara Vela
Human Weather
Four studies of the body as landscape.
Made between storms, 2024—2026.
I photograph the instant before a feeling learns its name.
Human Weather is a record of pressure: fabric caught in crosswind, breath against glass, a figure dwarfed by its own horizon. Nothing here is posed to reassure you.

MARA VELA / SELF-PORTRAIT / 2026
Mara Vela is a Madrid-based photographic artist working between portraiture, performance, and hostile landscapes. Her images ask how much pressure a body can hold before it becomes weather.
Working primarily with medium-format film, Vela welcomes chemical errors, interrupted gestures, and the unruly evidence of touch.
